FORBIDDEN BROADWAY BEHIND THE MYLAR CURTAIN.

I am so grateful to have been a part of FORBIDDEN BROADWAY for so many years.  The show’s creator, Gerard Alessandrini, just published a book featuring fabulous stories about the making of the show.

Here is a video made by my friend and colleague, Bill Selby as we discuss some of the fun and silly moments while working on the show.

INDEPENDENT FILM: I loved working with the very talented filmmaker, Anja Marquardt on her short film, THANKSGIVING.  The film has played in many festivals and won the Cinequest International Film Festival 2009 Best Student Short Film Award and the Silver Lei Award for Excellence in Filmmaking  at the Honolulu International Film Festival.   Congrats Anja!

It’s been a terrific fall. I’ve had so much fun collaborating with wonderfully talented people on a variety of projects.

Carl Menninger and I have signed a book deal for “Minding the Edge: Strategies for a Fulfilling, Successful Career as an Actor”. This will be a college textbook. I had a great time doing a master class for his students at American University in DC. More news to follow as it all unfolds.

It’s been a joy to work with director Peter Michael Marino on developing my new reporter character, Margo Rose Ferderer. Be sure to check out the new website including our newest with Broadway diva, Carolee Carmello from MAMMA MIA! Check out Margo’s videos at: MARGOROSE.COM

I’ve been working on updating my one woman show, TIGER MEAT ON TUESDAYS with director Dann Fink. We are looking forward to doing an excerpt of the play at a location to be disclosed soon.

HAMMEL FAMILY FILM:

On July 26 we celebrated my grandma Dee’s 90th birthday! I created a 30 minute film tribute using my grandparent’s 16mm footage. They had started filming in the 1940’s. It was a labor of love and I’m so pleased that my dear friend, Bill Selby, created an edited version that was touching and perfect for our celebration.
